My fiancé has just been taken on by Halfords in the above role, it's not ideal but it's better than working in an ASDA warehouse.

We were wondering if anyone knew how much the hourly rate is so we can budget. He's still waiting on a call from the manager to arrange a start date.

He should of asked in the interview.. But a lot of jobs seem to start of on NMW for the first X months as a trial period.. And then it goes up depending on factors, such as skills, experience etc. But don't hold me that...

Don't know anything about his wages, but tell him to memorise this picture. It's crucial for his development ^_^

*this is of course a joke ;)

Hope everything works out for you both

Funnily enough, on all the Dr Bike sessions I've been doing recently, I've only seen 1 Halfords bike with the brakes the wrong way round. I've seen far more bikes from Cycle King assembled wrongly though. Perhaps the Boardman effect has been slowly raising standards at Halfords?

I found myself in a job without it being offered to me and without me accepting the non existing offer and, furthermore remuneration was not discussed and was assumed to happen "When you come in next Friday we'll make sure that get paid promptly and above the going rate."

That was good enough for me. The job lasted nine Fridays, four or five more than expected.

I know it looks odd but not everyone can be choosy while job hunting,it is the sad state of the economy that dictates this.

This is pretty much it unfortunately, a job at minimum wage is better than no job at all which was the only real alternative. Given he's fresh out of college with very little experience in his field this will do nicely as a stop gap for now. We can actually get by on my wage alone and we were only hoping to find out how much he'd be likely to earn. I only thought to ask here as I thought there'd be a chance that someone might be employed by Halfords in the same role.

Never mind.

Sounds like good news, @Middleton Mouse . Even if it turns out to be less than ideal, it's still work experience, which can only help in the long run...
