Halfords. I could scarcely believe it

Just popped into our local (Norwich) branch of Halfords as Hubster had seen a Garmin Edge Touring computer at a sensible price. We don't need the whole cadence and heart rate thing so, having read the reviews, thought that this would be the very thing for us. The best price that we've seen it has been Halfords.

We went in with a bit of trepidation, especially when the increadibly young sales assistant at the bike hut bit asked if he could help. We told him what we wanted and he asked if we had looked at the Halfords website. Not wanting to upset the wee lad we said that we had. He then said that we could have it at the web price then, which was £30 less. He then said that if we wanted any other accessories that now was the time as we could get a further £20 off if we spent £200 in one transaction. We had a look about but there is nothing that we really needed or wanted at this exact moment in time.

The sales lad was chatty, informed, obviously a really keen cyclist and helpful. He's doing an external bike mechanicing course in his own time and with his own money. We were a bit impressed so thought that sharing would be good.

In my local store there are a few hipster types but they seem to know what they're doing. They've always been very helpful when I've gone in.

It's so patchy, there are rubbish staff and excellent staff.

That is exactly what I said to our chap in Howards, our LBS when I nipped in for a new mini pump today. He can't buy Garmins wholesale as cheaply as Halfords sell them so he wasn't offended that we went there.

A good work ethic and dedication in the younger generation should certainly be applauded as it's definitely lacking in far too many of them, so chapeau to this young chap for both of his

Unfortunately it's just a shame that his employers probably won't reward him accordingly when he passes his course, and as such it will probably take him a long long time to re-coup his costs at minimum wage.

That said I do sincerely wish him all the very best and hope he continues to follow his dream at all times.

I personally love halfords, I have never had a bad thing to say at all about there staff
