Halfords Stock Glitch

Well, got the email that at last my bike was back in stock, so bought and reserved it for pickup. Bought pedals and prepped my carbon seat post.
Then got a call this morning that the stock levels were incorrect and they had no bikes off this model (circa. 2.5K) and tried to fob me off with a £500 Carrera.
Most frustrating.

No, was not really in the market for £500 Carrera. I did one when a student and it was fantastic but wanted a serious road bike.

So what is this 'serious' road bike of which you speak?

Sounds like a Boardman, they have had some very highly rated models recently and have been flying out the doors of Halfords.

I just bought a £800 Boardman 8.8 road bike (aluminium Tiagra) and it's just as good as the £1100ish Cannondale alu Tiagra it replaced. The £1100 Boardman 8.9 road bike (carbon 105) continuously got rave reviews so I can only imagine that the more expensive bikes are pretty fantastic too. The Halfords label apparently stops lots of cyclists even considering them which is a shame. They are also stocked by Tredz if that helps with ordering/pre-ordering.

Obree was still the better cyclist though.
