I have the Apidura rack pack on my bike all the time and it is great. But expensive. I want a roll pack for my handlebars to carry my sleeping bag and air mat occasionally. I know their gear is good but 88 quid is steep.

I think a bit of DIY is on the cards.

Any hints or tips are welcome

Vinyl or pvc backed fabric is cheap and easy to work for prototyping bags. Corrugated plastic works well if you need support or stiffening board.

I can see why they cost so much. There is more to this than meets the eye.

I am now in the R&D stage ^_^ It will be a nice winter project.

I will post some photos as I go along.

Apidura is a great make for cycle touring kit. Most of the Transcontinental riders use it. Emily Chappel is one of their Ambassadors.

i used an alpkit dry bag with a couple of straps for food etc on a couple of tours. it worked well. i think over on YACF there's a reader's bodges thread and there might be something there - you might have to ask.
