I did it this year and previously rode it in 2015 as well. It is expensive but it is a great event, lots of friendly people on the ride and the locals were all very supportive. Riding closed roads is a real treat that you don't get to do very often and to my mind justifies a lot of the expensive entry cost. The organisation was very slick this year, it ran like a well oiled machine. There were a few broom wagons picking people up and the drivers were really friendly offering assistance and water anywhere you passed them.

There were a few chumps in the first 15 miles riding way too aggressively, i saw 4 nasty crashes in this first part, but once they had naturally selected themselves out the rest of it was really good!

The weather was great which allowed for fantastic views, some of the scenery is beautiful on the ride. I would recommend it to anyone. I will duck for cover and say it is a more friendly atmosphere than Ride London 100...

I live on the route and ride the roads regularly. Theres no way im paying £85 plus travel to cardiff twice.....just for closed roads and to pay the pros to race afterwards......

Hope you all enjoyed, but im glad i was in the alps

Was the entry £85?

Third year for me. Where were you watching @Welsh wheels ?

Always a great day out on closed roads.

As mentioned above, there were a lot of riders taking part. A few "chumps", yes, but they weren't always the ones who were going fast on the flat on the opening 20 miles. ;)

Overall, I completed my two goals. Sub 5 hour overall and to shave time off the Tumble. Came in at 4 hours 41 mins and knocked 50 secs off the Tumble. Happy Days!

First time for me this year and first closed road ride. Great event and chapeau to each and every person on the route waving and cheering the riders. There where loads and they cheered everyone going past. I think it was this that changed it from being an organised ride to a great day out.

Yeah, that was nice. Though I did have a wobble when high-fiving some kids...

It wasnt £85, if you booked early. I wonder how much all the people who say it is too expensive would like to suggest how much they could do it for. As for transport costs, not everyone can live in Cardiff.

I think its much better than the london one, thats far too much of a logistical nightmare. There are far more idiots using it as a race as well. Some of that blame has to go to clubs who deliberatly enter fast teams to get best times. Wales is much more relaxed, friendly and proper hills.

I loved ringing my cycle bell back to the children waving us all on, would do it again next year.
