Another one that annoys me is the guy who is chatting, and every so often he'll use his finger and poke my chest as if it's part of the conversation. Don't know how to explain it properly but it's kinda like him trying to keep my attention.

I dealt with this by stroking his cheek. He was very confused. I think it's quite normal in some cultures to prod people while talking, it might even be a sign of affection, I don't actually know why it's done, but it seems domineering more than anything else.

I used to have a French colleague who would touch your knee in the car to make a point; I found it disconcerting at first but got used to it. I think it's a cultural thing because we certainly don't do it in British society..

A guy I know does that. So one day he offered his hand, palm down. I grabbed it, palm up, and gave it a really really huge enthusiastic shake, then I pulled him towards me and gave a bear hug.

Was priceless.

Cruise does make a brave hash of capturing Teacher's personality, but physically he doesn't cut it. Reacher is a 6'5" ex military copper from a unit that specialises in invrstigating crimes involving special forces personnel, not some 5'7" floppy haired geezer.

Yeah but you've read the books. I remember Jimmy McGovern saying he wrote the character of Fitz in Cracker for a short, wiry, Begbie-from-Trainspotter sort of bloke, then when the telly people casted it, they told him they'd found the perfect guy: Robbie Coltrane. He thought, unh? As you would. But later decided Coltrane was perfect.
