I remember when the programmes about her life were first aired. A hell of a tough lady. I am not sure that i could have coped half as well as she did under those circumstances. A very intelligent, quiet unassuming lady that i admired greatly. She had a good innings and i am so glad that she spent the last decades of her life in far more comfortable surroundings.

I first became aware of her when I was a young lad. I read all of the books about her.
A fine woman.

When I used to paddle the river Tees I always hoped I'd bump into her in Cotherstone.

Sad news, I remember watching the programs as a teenager at the time it amazed me that people still lived that way in the UK, how naive I was
