I'm currently on my second rest day in Buon Ma Thuot. The first 10 days were designed to ease us into the ride. The last 9 days have been pretty difficult in places. By far the best, and most difficult, day was A Luoi to P'Rao, which was 100km over two mountains, with spectacular views throughout and surprisingly smooth roads for the most part. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to cycle in Vietnam, although be careful what time of year you come, because for the 2010 ride, they went in November, and the roads were impassable due to mudslides. Speaking of impassable roads, we had to walk about 100m of one ride, because a lorry and car had crashed, blocking the entire road. On another thoroughly miserable day, we were down to about 20m visibility on winding mountain roads. But we're now back into the hot part of Vietnam, where I'm far more comfortable. The last few days have been a bit crap though, because of terrible roads full of potholes and traffic, and not too much scenery to speak of. We're passing near Dalat soon though, which should mean some more mountains and better views.

In other news, I've fallen off twice, landing on my chin once, and had one flat tyre in 1500km. I also have epic tan lines.

Yep, tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to get back to great food. Actually, there's been a lot of good food on the trip (especially the South), but I'm really craving a burger right now. And a steak. And about a million other things.

Just finished. The last day was the longest, but it was pretty easy, because most of it was flat and smooth. The traffic was a nightmare getting into the city though. But the good thing about doing this sort of thing for charity is that you have a big crowd of people to congratulate you at the end, with food and beer. I ate 7 pieces of KFC chicken and I was hungry again about an hour later because I didn't eat for the whole ride (about 110km).

Well done on completing the ride and I'm sure a couple of beers will also be welcome tonight. It would be nice to meet up one night and have a chat about the ride, that's if you have the time and you can send me a PM here on the forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
