It's a bit more complicated than that...
I'm a solid republican, but even I know this is not true. Today is the day she becomes the longest reigning monarch,
*ahem* 48th longest reigning monarch. Only longest-reigning in what is now the UK.

Slightly surprising. I'd have thought you'd be more republican than that...

Ho, brother Teague, dost hear de decree,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
Dat we shall have a new deputy?
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.

Chorus:
Lero, lero, lilliburlero,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Lero, lero, lilliburlero,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.

Ho, by my shoul, it is de Talbot,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
And he will cut all de English throat.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Though, by my shoul, de English do prate,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
De law's on their side and Creish knows what,
Lillilburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

But if dispense do come from de Pope,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
We'll hang Magna Carta and dem in a rope.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

And de good Talbot is made a Lord,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
And he with brave lads is coming abroad,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Who in all France have taken a swear,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
Dat they will have no Protestant heir,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

O, but why does he stay behind?
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
Ho, by my shoul, 'tis a Protestant wind!
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Now Tyrconnel is come ashore,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
And we shall have comissions galore.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

And he dat will not go to Mass,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
Shall turn out and look like an ass.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Now, now de heretics all go down,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
By Creish and St. Patrick, de nation's our own.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Dere was an old prophesy found in a bog,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
Dat Ireland should be rul'd by an ass and a dog.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

Dat prophesy's true and now come to pass,
Lilliburlero, bullen a la,
For Talbot's de dog and Tyrconnel's de ass.
Lilliburlero, bullen a la.
Chorus

I'm a solid republican, but even I know this is not true. Today is the day she becomes the longest reigning monarch, and it may come to a surprise to you that Victoria (hello, @vickster) didn't pop her clogs on the anniversary of her coronation. She reigned ("it never reigns but if pours") for 63 years, 7 months and 2 days, so presumably Betty has now been on the throne for 63 years, 7 months and 3 days. I could look it up, or ask @threebikesmcginty jnr.

However, the big parties they have every 10 years, the Jubilees do commemorate her father's death. Though the big parties are in summer, which is actually the day she was crowned, rather than in February when her father died, and she ascended the throne.
Oh I see. My bad.

I'd have been in the Turkish barbers at that point, telling him to make me look even more stunning than I was when I walked in

Did he lop your head of with a cut-throat then?

As an aside, HM was in Scotland to open what I suspect must be the only instance ever of a cyclepath being converted (back) into a railway line.

Good!!

That was a fun day out:becool:

In that first picture, Phill is glaring at that other guy, whereas in yours, you look like you have just shat yourself!! :giggle:

In Asda carpark, Galashiels. The Queen sets about cleaning the smudge marks, whilst the crowd completely miss seeing her but capture it all on their phones.

That is one UGLY fence though!!

No, they've already done it on the Airdrie/Bathgate cycle path.
I am hoping they don't reclaim Mr Beeching's other gift to cyclists by re-opening the Paisley to Kilbirnie, and Johnstone to Port Glasgow train lines.

I thought that Sustrans and others only got these routes to keep with the understanding that if in the future, a line was re- opened, they would have to give it back? And quite frankly, all they have to do is build a new path alongside anyway, it isn't rocket surgery.

Much as I like cycletracks and so on, I lost any real sympathy after hearing how Sustrans (or similar) acted after a line was proposed for reopening in Cornwall a few years back. Hateful, vile people seemingly.

I'd have been in the Turkish barbers at that point, telling him to make me look even more stunning than I was when I walked in

To which he said that he was a Barber, not a miracle worker!!
