Interestingly, the idea of a young earth is pretty recent . Even by Darwin's time, most people believed that the earth was very old, and it held no contradiction to their religious beliefs.

I honestly can't fathom how biblical literalists function. It's like their brain has its fingers in its ears singing "La la la la, can't hear you."

There's those houses on Orkney that are 5500 years old. They were built in Cain and Seth's lifetime. Why don't they get a mention in the Bible?
