Cheers Trevor. The same to you and everybody else. I just finished my final commute of the naughties, going back to work on the 5th of Jan 2010. It was very dicey on the side roads up to my house but I made it through 2009 with no offs so result! ;)

Hi Trevor. 4 Jan will be my first day commuting and I'm a bit frightened of the prospect. Hope you're enjoying the holidays ;)

Don't be too frightened by it. The traffic can be a bit scary when you first start, but it does get easier.
When i first started commuting three years ago, i found thinking about it too much made it worse. Just get out, and get on with it.
Now it's just a part of my life, just like jumping in the car used to be.

Today's the day I start commuting by bike for my new job. I've swapped a 3-mile each way pan-flat commute through central London (Victoria station to Holborn) for an 11-mile each way hilly ride over the north downs in Kent. I'm looking forward to it immensely.

I remember my first commute. First day back after new year's, I promised myself if I rode in every day through the winter, I could treat myself to a new bike come summer.
When I look at what I've spent since, believe me, the commute is the least frightening bit of it:smile:
