Wide awake at 03:30...couldn't get back so sleep, so I wandered down to the river. This was the closest we got to a sunrise. 10 minutes later the sky was a uniform dull grey.
I was awake at around 4am this morning. A bit iffy weather wise. A family of blackbirds has produced 2 broods of chicks. Early this morning all 4 chicks from the second brood have flown the nest. Happy solstice.
Left Leeds about 1.30am - rode through to Brimham Rocks. Shortest night - means the longest dawn! It started lightening about 3.15 - and just got better and better. Caught a magnificent sunrise. Glorious riding. Had porridge, then Manx kippers (aye - and kippers cooked in the open taste sublime) on slabs of good bread at Brimham Rocks. Wandered round - just us and the jackdaws. Rode back down to Harrogate for the train to Leeds.
Absolutely brilliant ride - and saw one vehicle in 7 hours. Happy solstice - you betcha!
