I've no idea what temperature it was this morning in Holbrooks, but my neighbour was busy scraping ice off her windscreen when I left for Nuneaton, my road and the next one were slippery but once on the main roads everything was clear, -2 is a tad chilly but not as chilly as the -11 it was one morning commute a couple of years ago.

I've just got one of these http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/LIPHBPDRL/phaart-bleep-dual-05-watt-led-rear-light
to replace my old smart rear light, switch on the smart finally quit after being dodgy for a few years, I'm impressed with it, very bright and seems very solid, I wasn't very impressed with the postage charge but even with the postage a cheap effective light.

Gaz - do you have a link to anything that confirms it? Someone was asking me about it and I couldn't find anything, apart from some stuff about not being warmed up and the possible damage.

There seems to be some logic, something along these lines: cold restricts the blood supply since the body tries to keep as much as possible in warmer parts to avoid heat loss. Your knee is doing a lot of work; if you run a mechanism starved of lubrication then you damage it.

Nice reasoning, I'll have to remember that one . It won't stop me commuting to work when it's close to 0 (or just below), though, because I enjoy the commutes too much.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Nutter maybe, but not at all hardcore. Two pairs of thermal long-johns under my jeans.
I still have to crack the problem of cold hands though.
