Has anyone ever cut the top of their finger off diagonally through the middle of the nail?

yup, i have done it. right through the middle of my middle finger left hand.
Was about 12 years old. Decided to cut an orange in half with a long carving knife. Silly thing to do.
Right through the finger and nail. Blood everywhere, bit of bone in sink.
At the hospital, all they did was sellotape it back together. And have a very nice scar.

and here's a pic of said cut finger 34 years later..as you can see, the knife went quite a depth..and have no bone on right side.
