Has anyone ever cut the top of their finger off diagonally through the middle of the nail?

Judging by the responses here, it's obvious that you could all learn a thing or two about industrial health & safety from this hilariously silly & gory German H&S film: just search for "German Forklift Training Video (funny)"

Starts of quite mildly, but eventually degenerates!!

(originally included the video in this post, but perhaps it gets a bit over-the-top, even for this thread - so left for users to look up themselves!)

Night Train

Maker of Things
When we were kids my brother and I and our friends used to play this game of getting around the living room without touching the ground. The bit between the table the sofa required jumping from the back of the sofa onto the edge of the door, standing on the door handles, and swinging across to the table.

My brother was just doing the door swinging bit when the Bakelite handle shattered under his left foot.
As he fell off the door the remaining shard of handle, still on the door, caught the front of his leg just above his knee and sliced open his thigh from knee to groin.
I remember one of his friends running to help hold the wound closed as much as possible as I looked on trying to figure out what happened, I was only 6 at the time. The cut was down to the bone and there was surprisingly little blood at the time.
I then ran downstairs to get Mum and Dad.

My brother was in hospital for quite a while with many stitches in his leg, about 40 visible ones IIRC.
The scar was a great talking point whenever he was seen in shorts from there after, especially as he became a rock climber in adult life.

A chap at work had a very nasty injury involving a fore finger and a bandsaw xx( . Split from the nail to the first knuckle. Ended up losing the finger.
