Have you tried getting like minded people together on a on a single set of dates? It's like herding cats.

I used to organise weekend booze ups in the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors and would be asked:

By five or six committed participants: Could I change the date to suit a particular individuals commitments and none of the dates coincided with each other
Could some of them pay for only one night's accommodation and raise the rental for the rest to cover the bunk barn's weekend fees.
Could a non-paying friend pop in and stay over? - 'After all the barn's paid for'
Could they bring tents and not pay for the bunk barn?
Could they bring their own food and not pay into the food kitty on the night(s) that they don't fancy the communal meal?

Then you get the post booking hassle:
Folk asking for their money back because they can't make it after all.
Folk who'd promised to pay up but don't and don't turn up making asking the remaining attendees for a supplement to prevent me being out of pocket.
Folk asking if the dates can be changed after paying up for the published dates.
Folk asking for a night's refund because a change of circumstance means that they can stay only one night.

The record low for attendance was when only five out of fifteen 'definites' turned up. Perhaps the low cost - £20 per person for the weekend didn't generate the commitment to attend.

Looking at some of the outcomes for CC group rides - many of them match my experiences i.e. a high drop out rate.

So not worth the hassle then

It depends upon your resilience.

My patience was worn too thin to continue. Interestingly no-one else took up the mantle of boozy weekend organiser despite the claims that lots of people wanted to participate and would organise one 'properly'.

Why not an open invite, to join a ride you already have planned? Then it makes no odds if 2, 10 or 200 people show up (provided the start point is capable of course)..
Sure there's a good few of this type on SkyRide, not tried one though..
