I quite fancy a camera, but not keen on a helmet, so maybe something like a normal headtorch attachement would be an idea.

The similarities between the helmet and camera arguments is interesting.

It's not just cameras on helmets. I've had a light on the helmet in the past. Again aids safety in theory.

I have a lid-mounted LED light. It is excellent on unlit country roads - for lighting up road signs, for aiming (for a very, very short period) at the driver who hasn't seen you despite being lit up like a Christmas tree in lights & reflectives - as a *swift* light in the eyes gets you noticed at junctions, oncoming traffic that hasn't dipped lights... Also good for lighting up the little extra bit of the road on a turn where you are looking, but the bar-mounted lights aren't yet, map reading, punctures... etc., etc.

Some people attach the camera to the helmet straps, rather than the helmet itself.

Any better?

Indeed, that's what i do. The camera sits flush to the helmet, just under it.

Although now that I have just invested in a cheap MD80 camera it will be attached to the back of my helmet adjustment strap at the back for a nice rear view...(oo-er).

There is always a flaw...Takes 8GB card but only 2.5 hours inbuilt battery life.

Then again doesn't look as bulky as my camera but I would prefer moton to know I am filming them.

I did a rear filming once and it was quite interesting...got the film somewhere.

Will we get to see your filmed rear on YouTube then?

(I know, totally predictable, but it made me smile!)

Here, Here !!!

And i have read the above !! All sounds a bit "techie & Gimmicky"

It's hear hear as in I hear you - not here here as in get your arse over here! ;)

No harm in having a camera if you want one. I have been arguing for a year and a half now over whether a car was indicating left or not when they opened the door on me. If they were it's my fault if they weren't it's their fault - if I had had a helmet camera at the time there would be no argument would there?

If you're going to correct someone else, make sure your post is without fault! ;)

Now, run along and get a helmet camera!

Hats with "knobs on"? I've seen plenty of "hats with Knobs in" or is it "Knobs with hats on", but there again it might be "hats on knobs".

Think i'll shut up.

I actually plan on sticking some "Solas" reflective tape that I have onto my helmet for these dark nights, but I understand that it is frowned upon to stick things to helmets.
