I have just started my new job this week with Tesco.

Should I hang my head in shame?

Absolutely not - a new job in today's economic climate is not to be sniffed at. My best mates girlfriend works there and loves it.

Oh, good luck with the new job - by the way.

Tesco is evil I'm afraid. They buy up land just outside towns, then apply for building permission. When the council turns them down because they don't want building on green land, or they have enough supermarkets in town, Tesco appeals, and because the council doesn't want to risk council taxes on defending an expensive court case, they relent. Sometimes they don't bother getting planning approval before building, because they have the 'clout to flout'.

Unfortunately, very true! They have owned a large plot of land(the old Wrangler factory) in Camelon for many years. It's in the heart of an area where all the Industry has closed - and the new TESCO jobs would be welcomed by all. They keep submitting plans to the council they know will get rejected. It appears they've just bought the land to stop other supermarkets buying it! Not nice!

Bit of a bummer that Dave. Hope something turns up for you eh?

I know, we had been talking, sorry in consultation, about it since November, there were two of us on a job that required only one. I thought my extra skills and service would swing it my way but it didn't work that way. I probably have grounds for an appeal but am just glad I'm out.
