I know, we had been talking, sorry in consultation, about it since November, there were two of us on a job that required only one. I thought my extra skills and service would swing it my way but it didn't work that way. I probably have grounds for an appeal but am just glad I'm out.

Unfortunately these things never have logical solutions Dave.

I recently took a redundancy offer from a company I worked for because I felt undervalued. It's not easy finding work at the moment but things are slowly improving.
I've just found full-time work after several months contracting(temping), it's in an industry I'm not familiar with - but It'll pay the bills.;)

Keep your chin up and try to think positively about your situation.

Good luck and I hope you find something suitable sooner rather than later.

I worked for Tesco for 2 years whilst at Sixth form. Just Part time. Amazing company to work for. my wage was over £6 an hour, time and a half on Sundays. Was a general assistant, so stacking shelves, checkout, internet shopping etc.

One of our mates tops up his wage working in Tesco on a Sunday afternoon. They treat him better than his regular job.

I bet they do......

I have a colleague that does weekends for Tesco, she enjoys it far more than the 9-5 job.............

I "could" be in the same position as you Dave. ;)

I have to go for my first consultation meeting tomorrow. To make matters worse (is that possible?) I have only been with the company 13 months and now this.

I was made redundant towards the end of 2008 after 18 years loyal and committed service. But after getting a job with a leading water company that takes its name from two rivers that pass through the Midlands, I thought (and hoped) that maybe it would last me to retirement. However, it now looks like I might have been rather premature with my hopes!

We have been told that 50 people have to go by 1st April in the Southern region, guess who works in the Southern region?

Good luck Alan.

If we're in consultations again this year it'll be the third year running.
Actually they probably won't have consultations - it'll be everyone getting the bullet - there's hardly any bugger left!
