Good luck Alan.

If we're in consultations again this year it'll be the third year running.
Actually they probably won't have consultations - it'll be everyone getting the bullet - there's hardly any bugger left!

Good luck with the consultation Alan, like you I was hoping the job would take me through to retirement, seven years to go. Unfortunately my pension isn't big enough to retire at this stage, otherwise I would do what a lot of my friends have done and retire early.

I "could" be in the same position as you Dave.
I have to go for my first consultation meeting tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that AlanW, all the best with your meeting. Don't take the decision personally if it goes against you - we're all just numbers on balance sheets these days unfortunately.

Dave R, I ended up working at NW Autotrader because I too had been made redundant and couldn't afford to retire as Mr Campfire had heart attack! Thankfully, NWAT (that's not rude), had a policy of retiring at ........sssssssssshhhhhhhhhhh don't tell them on here, 65! so I'm now a Campfire of leisure!

Can we all get CC Discount at Tesco now, do you think.

Sorry, should have said, good luck with the job. I think you have to take whatever job turns up nowadays. I'm sure you will enjoy it in the end.

Yes I agree with that. It looks to be the same as last time I was looking for work, lots of office an management jobs but hardly any manual jobs. At least I don't have the mortgage any more, and the kids have left home, takes the presure of. The agencies are quiet at the moment so i may have to be patent and wait till it picks up.

In my vacinity their is a big Asda/Walmart AND up the road is a now bigger Tesco. The Tesco is just better WHY - because it 'gives it to you straight' whereas the management of the Asda is pretty bad - prices not on items (god, thats a BIG moan of mine) and generally shoddy workers attitude....so, generally - i'd rather go the Tesco rather than the Asda but getting to the former is harder.
