Commiserations but so long as your bike fits in the back with just the front wheel removed then the money wont be completely wasted.

I presume 4 biggies is £4000?
You can get a good car for less than that. Toyota. Corolla. Petrol. 1600cc. Post 2004 (earlier ones burn oil).
Do a search on Autotrader.
Edit to add... I can confirm that it meets @Banjo 's criteria, with a 58cm Specialized or Ridgeback frame - and without the need for any wheel removal!

If I bought my missus a corolla I wouldn't even be alive to buy the bike!

£1500 max is all I spend on a car now and that's pushing it. My '99 Astra was bought for £1050 three years ago (One owner from new, FSH) and I've almost doubled the 63k on the clock, there are still eight months MoT left on it.

Look round and you can get some cracking motors for little money.

get a good used Volvo S80 for a lot cheaper than your budget .... I have one and am well pleased .... no probs so far (touch wood), and I've had it for several years

Unless you've got serious rust issues, just fix it. It will cost a lot less than 4k and whatever you need to replace won't need replaced again for a while.

Let your missus choose and contribute if it's her car. I for one wouldn't let a man dictate the car I drive, any more than I would the bikes I ride
