Agreed - our two car combined cost less than £4k. Get one in good condition and the mechanicals just go on and on. Our two have done 260k miles between them, but you wouldn't know if you sat in them and drove them.£1500 max is all I spend on a car now and that's pushing it. My '99 Astra was bought for £1050 three years ago (One owner from new, FSH) and I've almost doubled the 63k on the clock, there are still eight months MoT left on it.
Look round and you can get some cracking motors for little money.
V70 surely, much easier for putting bikes in the back.get a good used Volvo S80 for a lot cheaper than your budget .... I have one and am well pleased .... no probs so far (touch wood), and I've had it for several years
Ooooh contentious!!!Get her to pay![]()

It's just an old model that has been recycled.
And at the time thinking "it has room for two passengers but only one bike? What on earth?"There were prototypes made when that Fiat was a current model. I remember being impressed by the concept when seeing and reading about it in a car magazine at the time.

They're no bigger on the inside. Overall they've become bloated to fit in all the air bags, crumple zones, electronics etc.In reality, I suspect most car journeys only have a single occupant. I'm not sure why they keep making cars bigger all the time.
