300km a week through London on a road bike.
What is all this? I agreed that there are some excellent, low mileage vehicles on the 2nd hand market and then you suggested that I was recommending the OP buy a motorcycle for his girlfriend, which was wrong. You didn't say how much it cost, and as the OP related to a 4k car...so it cost £40 then, might be a good deal
Next you come up with the idea that, because the OP was talking about spending £4,000.00 then somehow that's how much I, a complete stranger, buying a completely different vehicle, had paid for mine, before introducing some arbitrary figure of £40, as being a "good deal" for a vehicle that you know nothing about. After that, you move on to complaining that you don't "see the point" in motorcyling to somebody that is, in all probability, a motorcyclist. So, what was that for? Why bother doing that if not to antagonise?
I'm afraid that, all in all, this makes you come across as something of a bigot, it makes you look a lot like some of these motorists that laugh at us cyclists, saying we're playing on childrens' toys in the road; that we must get tired; our legs must hurt; that we must be cold; that we should buy a car; that we should be like them, etc, etc.
All I was saying was that there are some good examples of vehicles on the 2nd hand market, and I wasn't even saying it to you, so do me a favour and go and vent your rather odd disapproval for anything that isn't a bicycle to somebody that cares.
Motorcycles pollute less than many other vehicles; take up less room on the road; less room when parked; are faster through traffic; are more economical; more enjoyable to use than many other vehicles; don't cause congestion... Will that do for you?Enlighten me on the benefits of motorcycling. Cycling gets you fit, and causes no pollution, neither to air quality nor noise pollution...motorbikes on the other hand?
