Have you been to your town's Christmas lights switch on?

I was in Accrington today, so I thought I'd hang around for the Christmas lights switch on with Martin Kemp ex Spandau Ballet member headlining the event. It was ok, with far more there than I expected. I didn't stay till the end as I think he was playing some records, which they call DJ ing, which isn't really my kind of thing. 🧐 Anyway, I've heard the event was a success, so I'm glad about that!:okay: Have they had such an event in your town and if so who was the main act?

I'd have used a loudhailer to remind them it's still only November.

Best to repeat this on the top/first one @Drago as I've asked the mods to delete this and the 2nd thread as I've posted 3 of the same thread by mistake. :okay:

Edit...Don't bother now as this is the one that hopefully isn't being deleted!! :okay:

Bit late for that. Christmas lights get switched on in October don't they?

Our event (Rutherglen, not Glasgow City) got cancelled because of a weather warning.
It was meant to be last Saturday.
We had a heavy snowfall in the morning, minor roads and pavements were difficult to access till the next day.

In our village the main decorations are a Christmas tree in the village square, which is about ten metres in front of my apartment, and most of the other lights are already fixed on the older houses, including mine. I'll be able to watch the switching on from my living room.

As the village has a population of less than a thousand, it probably won't be that busy outside.
