I’m my younger days I occasionally drank in the Bournebrook pub in the middle of Selly Oak. Was a very strange place, full of stuffed animals and other curiosities. A student pub in those days, probably still is. Another watering hole was the ‘mucky duck’, aka the White Swan in Harborne. A

The Brook pub in Bournbrook (one of my drinking establishments, and my wife's favourite from her time at the University) was knocked down and replaced by a Tesco Express, which now appears to be the Seoul Plaza. No stuffed animals when I was drinking there.

You may be talking about the Old Varsity Tavern which then became The Goose at the OVT, a much older building. Again, no stuffed animals in my day. Like most pubs in the area, it swung between very studenty (no entrance without an NUS card) to not particularly studenty.

White Swan / Dirty Duck is still there. Now describes itself as a gastropub.

Yep, the Bournbrook Hotel. I'm going back to the early/mid 70's. Was dating a girl from the dental school in Steelhouse Lane, she was living in Moseley iirc. I was dead posh, living in Sutton Coldfield when home from uni.

You are right, Dirty Duck. Memory going to come up with Mucky Duck. Rather a nice pub.

Another ex-Suttonian. Greetings! Wasn’t posh myself, lived in Boldmere…
