Have you gone from drop bar bicycle to a hybrid?

I can say that in terms of visibility, carrying capacity, and speed, my hybrid(Specialized Sirrus) has rather replaced my need for a road bike to compliment my tourer and mountain bikes. What's your experience?

Converted my triban 5 to flat bars a year ago, effectively making it a hybrid. Much more comfortable, better visibility and very little if any change in speed.

Yes I converted a Peugeot drop bar to flat bar fast commuter a few years ago when I was changing it from downtube shifters. It is one of a very few bikes I've sold on eventually that I regret doing so and wish I could have back.

No i haven't but hybrids in the 90s were responsible for me getting into serious cycling.

When i were a kid serious bikes had to be drop bars.

It was written.

I never understood it.

Thank god for the hybrid.

That humble chromo ridgeback i bought in about 97 for £220 in a sale is now my favourite bike.

And, wonderfully, parked in london, it looks like nowt.

Still running 23s as most of my riding is on the road

Insert witty title here
ideally would have bought a cyclocross, but just purchased a Trek 7.2 disc, for the princely sum of £200, including d-lock, mudguards and helmet. New bike in August 2014, and very good condition, just needs some touching up on the forks. Feeling rather pleased with myself!

Perhaps replaced is too strong a word. Church sale season is upon me, as are local garage sales. Plenty of opportunity to find a proper racing frame. Even in 60-63cm.
Btw,I bought a Austro-Daimler Maxima racing bicycle the other day.Very nice workmanship, and very light. Also was gifted an old Olmo with a broken drop-out. Extremely nice bicycle, but I'll need to go to Chicago to get it fixed.

For commuting I now use a hybrid flat bar road bike. Feel more confident riding through traffic dont think there is much difference in speed.
I also prefer the trigger gears . Road bike is now for weekends.
