OK after my little off, and having a bruised hipbone I decided to take a couple of weeks off the bike, even though the weather is perfect, a bit hot but perfect, so rather than just being in a vegative state I have been shopping for some decent cycling specs, but the online stores are a couple of hundred quid for a low spec pair.......so off we went to Asda opticians to just get me a new pair for work.
Well it must have been my lucky day, I spotted some two hundred quid cycling glasses and tried them on, perfect, but still pricey, anyway we had to go somewhere else for my eye test as they were fully booked for weeks and went into town any got a test done and then took my prescription back to Asda, I picked my work specs which are Lambretta frames with close distance lens and then the lady said I had to pick a second pair, you know which I went for.............. I was expecting a 300+ bill,
No...........99 pound for both, my work gigs with short distance lens and the cycling with long distance lens....bargain
Then we popped into GoOutdoors to look at some camping gear and stopped by the bike section, I was absolutely blown away with a £300 Raleigh, it was next years model and out on display and had the latest Claris group on, I wasn't over impressed with any of the groupset apart from the brifters.....wow, they are so good and blow my 105 shifters away in looks and feel, I didn't get a chance to test properly, but by god they are a big improvement over Sora and Tiagra, and perfect for smaller hands........Shimano have listened and acted.
