It's already started in our house this year - tree pollen we think...

Yes, as a fellow sufferer, not at this time of the year my worst time is usually late June/early July, I find each year gets a little worse. Hope the trees leave you alone this time.

Another one suffering with the tree pollen here. I've had effects for a while now (about 3 weeks)but it's really kicking off properly now.

@openroad: these threads would be best started in general cycling or the cafe rather than in the welcome mat.

Just starting hey? lucky you. It will be while before hay fever season here but an allergy its equal is a dust allergy - the symptoms are the same. In Quebec there is seldom an opportunity to open a window during the winter because of the cold and the warmest place is always bed where dust mites come to feast on 'stuff' and this creates an allergic reaction. So I feel your pain.

I used to suffer really badly as a kid, to the point of being in Hospital, & in an oxygen tent (as they had then), it was a summer factor of my life into my late 20's
However, as I spent more & more time spent outside riding (including commuting daily to work by bike from about 1989 to present day) has marginalised it to such an extent that, I believe last year, I barely had a sneeze!!
Plus, the extra exertion placed on the lungs when I started running too (late 2007), has also helped immensely!!

Acclimatisation, seems to have been the watch-word, in my case

The good news: there's no need to suffer; one tiny Clarityn tablet every day works fine and doesn't make you drowsy.

More good news: you will grow out of it - I started suffering at the age of about 12 and now in my 50s I have only needed a couple of Clarityn each summer for the last five years.

I suffer badly too, although I only started when I moved to a different area of Sheffield even though its still a farming area (maybe different crops). Luckily not started yet, but I have heard that if you can eat local honey this can help - I don't like honey though

Another sufferer here never thought about it till reading this but I can't recollect having any symptoms whilst out on the bike yet I do generally hate June / July grass pollen season

I have suffered all my life. I once had an attack in my 20's when a jelly like substance spewed out from under my eyelids. It scared my work mate.
I am fairly clear of it now apart from the end of May til mid June, but dosing up on pills usually does the trick.
If it rains in those weeks it can set off asthma, which I have also nearly grown out of.
Accidentally snorting shaving gel seems to have a violent effect 50x worse than any hay fever. I try to avoid this where possible.
