Had a brilliant ride in this morning joining up with the SE London peloton just past Surrey Quays, must of been 20 of us in the end by the time we got to Tower Bridge.

Anyway tonight was a different matter, the air was full of seeds and pollen and my hayfever & asthma started kicking in. I had a couple of puffs of Ventolin prior to setting off, but found myself coughing and sniffling a good part of the way home. I wear wrap around glasses but that didn't stop the eyes starting reallly itching and watering, by the time I got home I was a snivelling, spluttering, red-eyed mess :sad:

Does anyone else on here suffer like I have today?

I can get quite bad hay fever...as a kid the sleet that you get in the corner of your eyes would actually stick mine together a little bit. So far this year I've been okay. Some very itchy eyes if I start itching them, but not too bad. The stuff I get from the Doctors usually does the trick nicely, and I think I've been improving over the past few years.

London's plane trees are currently shedding their leaf/flower buds which then blow about and drift like the wrong sort of snow. Don't suffer from hay fever (though cat fur is a bu88er) but I still arrived at Euston with itchy eyes tonight.

I've been watering up and itchy eyed for a few days now. I used to suffer with it worse but I seem to be growing out of it - every year it seems less. Fingers crossed for this summer!

Hay fevers a nghtmare!
I take claratyn tablets, baconase nose spray and opticrom for my eyes.
A good tip is don't by the branded ( as above) products but go for boots own brand stuff. It's MUCH cheaper!!
Or go to the doctors and get it on repeat perscription cheaper still and 2 months supply at a time.
Still a pain in the eyes, nose, throat, ears etc etc

Yeah, that's what was swirling around town as I cycled home - absolutely awful. First stop Boots tomorrow to get some eyedrops, my eyes are still itching.

I`ve had it quite badly for the last couple of years ...... and have normally got it in full swing by now, but, and I`ll say this very quietly.......nothing yet:angel::smile:

The same here. I usually suffer pretty badly. Absolutely nothing I take seems to make much difference either. The only anti-histamines that ever seem to do anything are piriton, fortunately I seem to be relatively insensitive to its drowsy effects. I can have piriton and drink fine! (I could probably operate farm machinery at the same time, but don't have any to hand).

I have noticed a bit of sniffing so far, but that's about it.

I too usually suffer - but I usually don't start till late may. I find that rather than get a runny nose that the inside of my nose (and possibly tubes further up) swell up and a can't breathe. I have found that cycling helps - if I'm really bunged up and can't breathe when I set off, within a mile or so, my nose has sorted itself out and I can breathe again. No idea why - and it does slowly bung up again when I stop - but I enjoy the post ride feeling of being able to breathe.

Also, I heard some time ago that hayever is supposed to go in cycles - roughly 7 years. So people find they have a bad summer and then it seems to get better for a few years before getting worse again. Not sure where I heard this, nor if it's true.

Cut grass is my downfall like this morning, council have been out cutting grass, hence headache and unable to breath through my nose had to ditch the 5ml commute and hop on to the train closer to home. Still I never get hayfever camping or out in the country

My advice would be to get one of these: -

http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/webap...gory=18510&fromPage=&hotspot_prefix=Medicines

Only £15 or £20 for it and an air purifier. I used to take every hayfever medicine under the sun, made very little difference and I always felt very drowsy. I also had difficulty breathing and had to use an inhaler, as well as visit the doctor frequently for a really big dose of inhaler-stuff.

I have no clue how it works (two prongs with red lights that stick up your nose for 2 mins) but it makes a huge difference - I can live normally now, don't have to stay inside, avoid exercise etc. for a quarter of the year, while being miserable, swollen, itchy and puffed up... it sounds cliched but it really has changed my life!
