most cyclists on the cycle path manage to 'keep left'. It makes sense and is second nature to most (IMHO)... but there's always the odd numpty, and you ran into this one.

Just to clarify my previous posts: I wasn't asking for advice on how to stay safe on cycle paths, simply asking for clarification on British laws and customs regarding these. I'm not sure if your reply above was to me or to the OP, so I thought I'd better clarify my own position, so no offence intended  . I'm an experienced cyclist with no problems making my way on cycle paths or roads.

Regards,

--- Victor.

Nope Vic, wasn't to you - just general advice to the OP

Had a near miss on the Tavistock way track earlier this week. A ped crossed r>l ahead of me and was bit slow clearing. Realised just in time I was on collision course with guy on Dahon. Ped being female and rather shapely might also have been a factor. Got away with it but I don't blame him for profuse sweariness as he passed.

I've almost been taken put cycling across HPC. A bloody nightmare going under the arch.

Try being a pedestrian walking up the mall from Admiralty Arch to Hyde Park during the morning rush hour. The amount of cyclists who speed down the pavement (not the shared part) and expect you to jump out if the way is horrible.
