Headlamp - Petzl Tikka XP (2014?)

Now that my Petzl Tikka XP2 has mysteriously gone walkabout along with my old light ... I am sure we have a ghost in this 120 year old house (which is old by our standards) it looks like I am back in the market for a new light.

I am tossing up between a Black Diamond Spot at $49.95 or the new Petzl Tikka XP at $69.88 delivered to Australia. I might consider the Revolt at $66.95 but not overly keen on the USB charging. I would rather use my own properly charged batteries.

Anyway I am particularly interested in any experiences with the new Tikka XP as shown in the photo, not the earlier models which I am more familiar with.

Thanks

What will you be using it for? Don't say to see with, but what will you be doing when you intend wearing it?

How about the Petzl RXP £90 in UK?
The Petzl RXP is probably more lumens than I need but the Tikka R+ is interesting. It would mean a move away from AAA batteries but maybe that is not a big issue given I ride with dynamo and PedalPower+ Super-i-Cable.

If this is too expensive then the Tikka 2Plus about £45?

Not sure what this one is I am afraid.

We have the Petzl Myo RXP which whilst you say has more lumens than you think you need, it also has 10 power levels and you can program the switch to what you want. We have the minimum level (13 lumens, something in the middle and then the max programmed (141 lumens) in as our 3) then there is the super bright mode (205 lumens) which is great when you are wild camping and you have removed the reflective tabs from your tent and now can't find a dark green tent in a dark green background ...
It is well worth the money and we run ours off AA rechargeable batteries - even at home they are always in use. We have been using that model for years and years now, the old ones failing on a our 12month tour (broken cables after around a decade of use)... the new ones have been redesigned around that area so won't suffer the same fate. Also great in tunnels for some extra light when needed and (with the helmet adaptor) slide nicely over our Ortlieb barbags for that little extra light when you need it (say in tunnels)... The only downside is that it takes 3 AA batteries rather than an even number, but that is OK on rechargeable, just a pain if you end up having to buy single use batteries which generally come in pairs!

The Tikka XP btw is 120 lumens without the programmable options compared with the Myo RXP (13-141 lumens, 3 programmable options).

I don't know what the price is, but a quick look on the Petzl website shows that there is also a Tikka RXP which has 3 settings (7-205 lumens) and is rechargeable by USB and has the ability to set customised burn times - so power settings for the other 2 power options it has... if I have read the literature correctly.

Thanks
for your input. Have decided to go with a Petzel Tikka RXP and hopefully picking it up ex eBay USA for around AU$75 which is a reasonable price.
