Ive been having some creaking sounds and ive gradually been going through things and im pretty much sure i found/sorted it.
I have an intergrated headset so i took it apart andcleaned where the bearings sit and i looked at the bearings and there covered in rust but still spin apart from one which feels very slightly gritty inside, so for now i lightly covered them in Finish Line teflon grease put it all back together and the creaking has gone.
Even though its sorted i think i better get some new bearings but the problem is i cant see what size to get, this is what it says on the Trek website, integrated, cartridge bearings, sealed, aluminium, 1-1/8" top, 1.5" bottom.
Any ideas ?

I'm afraid Trek don't make it easy to get replacements so you may have to get a new headset.

What you need to know is

a) the internal diameter (ID) of the headtube at the bottom and top. You may find that some headsets quote the OD (outside diameter) so you will also need that.

We know the steerer so the only other thing we need to know is the angles of the bevels on the inside and outside of the existing bearings. With a bit of luck the bearings should hsve some dimensions on them (eg 41od and 36 x45 or 45 x 45). The latter two pairs are the possible angles.

You then need to look for Tapered Headsets which have bearings matching yours. Here's the FSA page

Rubbish, bearings for Trek bikes are easy to get, I only ride Trek bikes and I just go into my Trek dealer and they have them in stock and if not they order them there and then and there in the shop in a few days.

Going by the number you have, ACB 36 X 36 and it being for a Madone or Domane at a guess, it looks like the one that I replaced a couple of months ago, I have a feeling though that there should be another number printed on it which makes it easier to find online as there is loads when you have that number. If I could find my old one, I could get you the other number.

I cant find any other numbers on it due to rust.
I spoke to the LBS and the option was to either buy the bearings which one was £20 and the other nearly £40, or to buy a canes creek 40 headset for £50.
