New to modern cycles and the complexities of compatible parts.
I have a 2013 Giant TCX but the forks have been damaged in transit. the legs were crushed together due the wheel not being in place. I have been given a set of carbon forks but the bottom bearing is larger than the 11/4" one fitted to the original forks. I cannot identify the forks as they have been custom painted. I assume the stem diameter is 1.5" and has a bearing cup integrated to them. Cane creek website state the original bearing size is
!S 42/30.
Is it possible to convert to the larger bearing size?
I hope this makes some sense.

Would the fork even fit in a head tube which is not designed for a tapered steerer? I suspect not.
