I am actually starting to see some weight loss now, have not measured it but have had to wind my belt in and make a new hole ;)

Still am probably carrying 2 stone of spare flesh but I feel so much better, went for a walk at Styal (Styal Mill park in Cheshire) and my legs felt so strong going up big flights of stairs and I wasnt getting out of breath.

I am augmenting my 14 miles a day with walking our new hound Bob the Border Collie, 3 miles last night and its like having a furry personal trainer, not going is not an option, he comes and sits on your feet.

I am now committed to loosing the 2 stone, 28 pounds less to haul uphill so have startted cutting out the crap, I passed on a piece of Tesco "Finest" Cheesecake last night. Am going to have Beer at the weekend.

Lets hear your stories,

My dad told me of a neighbour who was diagnosed with Angina in his fifties and basically condemned to and early death, he gave up smoking, he got rid of his car and got into cycling and after a year or so had a check up and no evidence of Angina could be found, sounds kind of like a Miracle to me but my dad was adamant that this was spot on.

Good to hear you are feeling fit and healthy. I'm about to start a new job and have given up my company car, now looking forward to losing 2-3 stone ( hopefully ) on my 10mile round trip commute. Once you start to regularly exercise and start to feel fitter, I find that the healthy eating normally follows.

That is awesome, well done!! The benefits of cycling outweigh the risks by 20 to 1, regular cyclists will have roughly the health and fitness of someone 10 years younger than them, and they will live on average 2 years longer than the rest of the UK population.

Hmmmmm. I've been doing it for about 4 or 5 weeks (7 miles each way) and my legs are starting to shape up a bit but my torso is still flabby. No weight lost at all. My intake isn't overly healthy I might add. My dodgy knee, however, is improving by the week! I'm hoping the holy grail of playing football might be within my grasp by the end of the year!

Yep I used to suffer from that. Not had to use an inhaler now for over 5 years.

There's your answer then.

Although we are all different and no doubt someone will shout up to contradict me, IME, you can't eat crap thinking that the cycling will compensate. It just don't work!

If I have a good binge and still cycle, the weight still goes on. It's only by eating sensibly AND cycling have I managed to lose 2 stone.

+1 So true. Eating is one of the things I suffer a huge lack of self control with.

In fact, you've probably lost a few pounds of fat but put a similar mass of muscle on, especially those legs.

I didn't notice any difference for the first couple of months until one day, looking in the mirror after coming out of the shower, I thought ''Bloody hell! Who's that young looking bloke?'' I noticed that I had a V shaped torso rather than the O shaped one that had become so sadly familiar and my jaw had become visible and I had just the one chin. I was walking on air for weeks. Haven't really come down:smile:

Keep it up mun! It will happen, I promise.

It has made me a little vain, I have started looking at my legs in the mirror, they were getting thin but flabby before, now, well they arent going to win Mr Universe but they do look better than average, even though they are stil pasty and hairy.

It is spurring me on, am 38 now and sometimes get surprised when I see blokes a few years older looking like knackered fat old men.

A few of my neighbours cycle, one in particular, though about 44/45 really keeps fit, big muscly bugger so its a bit of motivation and inspiration.

It is a great leveller fitness and condition, no matter how much money someone has or how flash a car, looking good takes effort and dedication and will wind up those who havent got it.

I am lucky, I am a good shape and used to do a lot of weight training so with abit of work my previous tone should come back quickly.
