In Lochranza youth hostel earlier this year, I met two other cycle tourists, probably in their late sixties. One had had some health problems recently, and had done an ebike conversation on his touring bike. It allowed him to still go touring with his mate. He said he could never have managed the Arran hills without assistance.
If electric assistance allowed him to keep touring, surely he's taking more exercise than he would have done without assistance.
If electric assistance allows people to cycle to work or whatever, when the alternative is to drive and cause congestion and pollution, surely it is a good thing.
I just can't understand why anyone would argue otherwise.
