Last night commuting along the shared cycle path to work, I was on an unlit stretch out in the countryside, curving to the right which quite a few cyclists, pedestrians and runners can frequent and the occasional car coming towards us, when suddenly I came up behind a "Ninja" heading the same way as me riding slowly, probably because he could not see where he was going, who jumped a bit as I lit him up and came alongside.
Just as I passed him, I said "It would be nice if you had some lights so that you can be seen"
To which he replied, "I don't want to dazzle the drivers just like your doing" and something else that was inelegible as I rode away
What more can one say.
The moral of the story is I suppose, I shall have to forget having my front light shining on the road to see where I am going, but to angle it off into the corners to see what is coming up as I do not want to run into the back of a sensible cyclist, or else fit two lights.
