Over the last year, maybe a little more, I have been hearing odd beeping noises when out cycling.
A definite .......beep beep beeeep with the last slightly longer beep maybe a tone lower.

It happenes only now and then but I've noticed it more and more over the months. I first heard it in rural places, always some way from houses or farm buildings and I wondered if it might be something to do with electric fences. Then I thought it was maybe telephone poles or mobile phone masts.
I doesn't happen on every ride and there seems to be no pattern as to where either. Last week I heard it a couple of times just 500 yds from where I live and there are no electric fences/mobile masts anywhere near.
An obvious source would be either my phone or my Garmin which I have with me almost always when out riding. If it is either of them I don't hear it any other time than when I am cycling. In fact I have heard it when cycling and I'd left my Garmin at home.

Anyone else heard this or is it just me?

No, so I guess you must be going.......!

Lost it, got it again.
It's either:

a) The GPS tracker that the government inserted in your neck when you last went to the dentist
b) A signal from space you are picking up in your fillings
c) Some wag following you playing the first few bars of "Harlem Shuffle" again and again.

I have been given a Nokia Navigator phone. It is currently locked to another network so I can't use it, but I charged it up to take a look at what features it offered. About a week later, I started hearing a sequence of tones similar to what you described. It took me a couple of days to realise that it was the phone alerting me to its battery running out of charge.

I thought of that but my phone has a different low battery warning.

Thanks Jonny but it isn't that. It happens where there is no junction for hundreds of yards.
perhaps try a process of elimination, start by riding a few miles without the Garmin to see if it goes away, then maybe the phone.

is it definitely an electronic type of noise, could it be a high frequency squeak from a loose bit of the bike. My bars crackle a bit under pressure and make some amusing noises now and again.
