If those kidney beans had been on sale for £700 a tin, would you have been more or less angry?
If they were the only beans in the world, I'd be furious.

If someone, somewhere was selling beans for £700 I wouldn't care.

BTW, do we have any evidence that any of these jockey wheels have ever been sold? That's the great thing about 3D printing, you can promise anything. You don't actually have to begin making them until someone places an order.

But regardless of which of the above categories a person fits into, surely if they are in their right mind they can understand why the production and sale of such products is ridiculous to the point of generating anger, in a world where some people can't afford/access the basic essentials for living?
Yes, yet I wonder if sounding off in a cycling forum about said anger is a way of channelling it effectively so as to change things for the better...

Else what's the point?

Would you though? My experience of wealthy people is that they have a tendency to be a bit tight and hate spending money.
ime the wealthiest three people I know, multimillionaires each and all, are modest, generous, charitable, and kind to children and animals etc..

The poorest members of my own extended family happen to be the most mean spirited.

Folk are folk.

Not the most effective way of channelling, certainly, but maybe not completely without validity if it helps the ventee get through their day without having an aneurysm/punching a kitten? Also not beyond the realms that such venting could provoke debate that then builds solidarity among a community (albeit an online one, initially) and perhaps even educates some about issues they weren't already aware of. But yes, these are only potential outcomes and indirect rather than direct results of the sounding off.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I do cash on delivery and at Christmas the poorer people are the most generous tippers by far. They are also most likely to tell you to forget the change when it is only a few pence (Sometimes a few quid) whereas the well off will often stand there patiently while you run back to the car in the pouring rain to get the 1p change.
- that's why they're poorer isn't it? "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves" etc etc :okay:

I have just found said jockey wheels online and they are price in euros, €800, give it another week or two and they'll be costing £900 the way the pound is going.

That said, i think it is a touch unfair to say that the ti jockey wheels are £700, you also get spacers, oil and a sticker sheet, which is surely a bargain.

GOD DARNIT OP, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

Never get all the information in the first post

What issues do you think this thread has educated people about of which they might not reasonably been aware?

I don't presume it has educated anyone about anything, because I have no idea exactly who has read this thread or what those unknown people do and don't already know about the world. If you re-read my post -

Also not beyond the realms that such venting could provoke debate...and perhaps even educate some about issues they weren't already aware of.

you'll see it was a discussion with @GrumpyGregry about the theoretical potential positives that might come from someone venting on an online forum, not a specific claim about this thread.

It had educated me that some people hold very dearly their arbitrary line of what is excessive. There's people in this world with nothing that may think anyone living in a house with more than one room is decadent let alone n+1 bikes. Of course many will say that's reasonable but £800 on something that you can buy for £50 is pointless. But that's their line, nobody else's.

It's all relative. What would a starving African say if he saw someone spending £150 on a pair of wheels, something which we regard as budget or entry level? The same amount would feed him for a year.

The average person in this country is one of the wealthy elite in global terms.
