Puzzle game procrastinator!
If it was sunday I could present a case the her indoors but sat I have the kids football so not a chance I'd be linched!
This will possibly be the last forum ride I do this year but there will be more in the New Year and they are usually on Sundays so hopefully we'll see you on one of them?

I can't make it again I'm afraid Colin, MTBing in Gisburn Forest.

Have a good one, I hope a few turn up this time.

I'll hope to make "Spring into the Dales", I'll start training for it immediately!
With all the mountain biking you've been doing recently, I'd say you already have!

Good news!  You can count Mrs Uncle Phil and me in.  We'll be there at 9.45.
Excellent. With a bit of luck, your presence will protect Calum from the ColinJ jinx!

So, it's...
  • ColinJ
  • Calum
  • Uncle Phil
  • Mrs Uncle Phil
Let's try and get a few more... does anybody else fancy the ride (and have tomorrow free)?

Calum - could you please come in on the 08:51 train from Leeds, arriving at 09:36?

(The 09:08 isn't due in until 09:56. Knowing the lack of punctuality of some of the trains on the Caldervale line, I reckon that could very possibly lead to a delayed start to the ride)

PS If we feel like adding an extra 3 miles to our ride and get to Pecket Well before 15:30, I'll take us on a 3 mile detour via Old Town and Midgley for a few more scenic views. We could then drop Calum off at the station on the way back to the car park.

I'm out for this one, I'm still having a serious bad patch and my good form has all gone and I'm going backwards and cannot fathom out why. Maybe I have burned myself out as everyone suggests and need time to recover.

I went for a 40 miler on Thursday with just two long hills to climb, and after 20 miles my legs had gone. From that point on I struggled to get home. And as that is a bread and butter run for me, no need to carry half of Morrisons food shelf, I was carrying just one gel for an emergency and also a very weak energy drink, I was caught out unprepared if it was a lack of fuel in my system.

I'm going out for a ride tommorow to see what I can do and if so go for the club ride on Sunday, but I have a feeling that I may just drop out on route.

I was even amazed just about over a week ago my resting heart rate had dropped to 48bpm from 60bpm, but I was having dizzy spells with it, which I have been told is a possible sign of low blood pressure, but since then I am back to 60bpm and dizzy spells gone, so no trip to the doctors yet.

I'm not a great one for going to the doctor, but it sounds like it might be a good idea for you to make an appointment for yourself. One of my relatives in his late 60s has just been diagnosed with diabetes and some of his symptoms sound like yours!

I hope it's nothing serious and that we get to ride together again soon.

That has been on my mind too, but despite having some of the symptoms, my weight is going up, and until something really develops, then I stay away from the doctors and most of the symptoms I can find a reason for them.

A good blast out tomorrow will test me, had a rest day today and ate plenty, which may be to blame for Thursdays poor showing as I have been on night shifts and I do not think I ate much the day before, plus there is no wind forcast for tomorrow which has more than featured in all my rides this past month and most of them very strong so maybe I have being getting a wrong impression of my fitness.

But, end of the day it is the end of the season and a good reason to be burned out, the wheel turns full circle and time now to start getting fit for next year, especialy April and "Spring into the Dales"

I'm not making any promises, but I might catch up with you tomorrow. Promised myself a ride, but I'm at work until 9.00am and then have to go home, breakfast, get changed and provisioned, load route into GPS. Then set off from Rochdale 14 miles away! If I manage to maintain motivation and do do this and if I really hammer it I reckon I might catch up before Thursden, but it'll probably be round Fence.
I've only done about 30 miles this week so I'm feeling a bit flabby.

Well, it would be great if you can make it and it will be interesting to see where we are by the time you catch us! I haven't been on my bike since last weekend's solo ride. As for the flab thing, we really don't need to bring that up do we! ;) It'll be good training for you - ride like a man possessed for the first half of the route and then have a real easy second half recovering with us!

Late entry - see you in the car park..
Good man!

So, it's now...

  • Svendo in hot pursuit (hopefully)

I ate quite a lot too and am taking on extra liquid calories now (hic!)...

Even though I know 90% of the route from memory, the section from Newchurch-in-Pendle to Laneshaw Bridge might have caught me out so I've programmed my GPS to be on the safe side.

If the forecast is correct there shouldn't be any frost on the route tonight which is A Very Good Thing because we will be going down some steep descents which are shaded from the sun. It looks as though any rain should stay east of Halifax while we are out and we ain't going east of Halifax!

Oh, by the way - if we do that little detour through Midgley, it would add 5 miles to our total, making it about 47.

See y'all at about 09:45 in the car park.

(I'll check in here again at about 08:30 to make sure all is well so post below if you can't make it, or if you aren't on the list and decide that you can!)

Well I hope your ride went well, I did a 60 mile hilly route that I do quite often just to test myself, it was not my fastest time or even the slowest, but the hills really tested my legs, that seems to be were I am lacking in strength, but overall I am quite happy with what I did, especially when I saw from my Garmin download into Sporttracks that I had an intensity factor over 1.0, which makes a change as I have been around 0.8 for a few rides, so at least I'm trying.

Anyway I just beat the rain which bucketed it down which was the best part as I was not dressed for it.
