Yestserday I nearly ran over a hedgehog.. at 3pm! Didnt think they came out during the day, wonder if the little blighter was in anyway unwell..?

Then today I'm just entering central bridge, look over to the itchen bridge end and see a cyclist laying on his back and the bike flung onto the pavement. Too far away, and feeling too ill to shout out so I ride closer as he untangled himself. Lad of about 13 i reckon, dusted himself off and got back on sharpish. I said as I passed "Are you OK?" and he sheepishly replied "Yes!" and rode off. Made me wonder if he'd slipped on the loose gravel someone keeps throwing down on the cyclelanes around there..?

I had almost every driver who passed ask if I needed help after my crossbar encounter recently. Bike left where it landed (mostly on the pavement) and me kneeling on the ground looking pained so I appreciate that they they didn't ignore me, but really I just wanted them to go away until I could compose myself!

Not one single driver stopped to help me up or see if I was ok whilst I wrestled with the bike laying on my back after getting kocked over.

All but one failed to so much as acknowledge my existence, the one that did had a passenger who merely called me gay, in a really long slow voice....

I rescued a hedgehog from outside my house the other day. We took it to the vets after contacting some local hedgehog rescue people. Apparently if they are out during the day it's not normal behaviour. Hope the little fella was OK.

(Probably would have been less of a response if it wasn't a really slow corner, tbh. Also I look about 16. Still really rubbish that no-one was interested in you though.)

My mate used to work at the Blue Cross so I already feared the worst when I saw it. We rescued one in the garden with a foot infection, took it to the Vets in the hope of helping but they just put it down. My ex-BC mate, cynic that she is said they probably thought they werent going to get paid as its a wild animal and not a pet, so that prolly influenced the decision. Animals I find now I tend to leave well alone.
