i hate hills
Its my day to be brilliant
Welcome Ian and well done on the weight loss
Hate to break it to you but NE Devon is still miles and miles away from Porlock, which is tucked away on the north coast. (Sorry if you already know this - fed up with my friends not being able to understand that Somerset is mahoosive and no, we're not all under water.)Welcome Ian. Great story!
Are you North East Devon or South East Devon? If NE, are you close to Porlock? (I know that's Zummerzet.........but have you ridden up THAT hill?)

Have removed grumpy pants, apologies. What? It's about 12 miles from Lynton to Porlock, and only about 8 miles from the Devon border to Porlock. That may be miles and miles for you, but I cycled it dozens of times as a kid.

Plenty going on in East Devon. I run events from Honiton and Exeter, as do others in Devon CTC and Exeter Wheelers. Google will quickly find them.
Oh, and I'm Ian from East Devon![]()
You're welcome on any Wed nights.@Ian H Thanks, I've just had a look this morning at your suggested links, I can see myself joining up for a pootle and an orange juice on one of your Wednesday night rides out, normally I'm not too social because of my speech which, probably wrongly, I have a tendency to think that people will think I am drunk (I haven't had a drink for two years now) because it can get a bit slurry and slobbery...but maybe that's just another obstacle I've set myself to beat...
My parents still live in Honiton, one of my routes involves calling on them for a fortifying slice of cake and a cup of tea before tackling the Golf Course hill..that bend at the top hurts...actually most of it hurts, but that top corner just finishes me off!
