Well, here we are in Wales. Sunburnt and saddle sore after yesterdays epic trail and todays fishing. It's now arsing it down, and we've done that very British thing of getting the BBQ going under an umbrella and cooking freshly caught mackerel. Hey ho bed soon and then strike camp to ride llandegla on the way home. Couple more beers perhaps.......

Sounds brilliant!

After all, you can't have camping without a bit of rain. Save me some fish?

It's raining now, but we haven't heard any thunder... (I'm in Manchester, I should say!)

I was splashing about in the sea near here on thursday and saw lots of little mackerel. Thinking 'hmmm... soon my pretties'.

And then it started raining, and then the wind picked up, and the temperature dropped, and there was much commotion on the 'beach'. Though, it was quite warm in the water. Soon enough, my buddy and I were called in by our frantically waving womenfolk to pack up our quite large beach presence. 5 minutes later we were shivering and everything we had with us was soaked through. Such is a norwegian summer!

Last time we camped in Wales it rained so much I said to Mrs 3BM I'd be at work, came home and did just that.

You could cycle around Isle of Wight. Do it over 2 or 3 days depending on the smallness of the people involved.

Oooh yes, that sounds fun. @Puddles, I took my then 9yr old cycle camping for three days in derbyshire last summer. Our route was mostly disused rail tracks. We had a fab time, though we only rode about 15 miles each day, my son considered it to be a world class adventure!
Hoping to do it again this year, we originally planned a c2c but don't think I'm up to that following my health problems, so may just do the Derbyshire route again.

We were thinking of train to near Clovelly and then exploring around that area, to be honest I would rather stick pins in my eyes than do the most boring place in the world ever with the corkheads on the Island... it is probably lovely but many a bored bored bored trip spent on the IOW! Plus the cost of the train to further afield is cheaper than the cost of the ferry to the IOW (The IOW ferry is supposedly the most expensive ferry in the world or something)

Squidge will be 8 1/2 and User76 will be just 4 by then.

Squidge does have a hankering to go to IOW as he cannot remember going & we do have a friend that has just moved there but I would need serious therapy to get over my IOW aversion.

Er! I am off camping with my Boys Brigade Company from the 3rd of August on the Eastern end of the IOW so I hope it is not all bad. Mind you it must be like being on a giant cruise liner, once you are on there is no where to go until you come to get off. I will let you know how I get on.
