Hi everyone
My name is Andrew from just outside a town called King's Lynn in West Norfolk.
Pretty blessed in the area I live as plenty of opportunities for cycling in quiet countryside and not that many hills, though don't believe everything about Norfolk being flat
I'm what I guess many of you would call a fair weather cyclist, normally only out during the summer weekends when the weather is good and the wind behind
However, I was lucky enough to secure a place in the Ride London 100 ballot so looks like I need to step things up a gear. Since finding out I've had a place, I've been doing plenty of googling for training plans, different bikes and equipment and this forum always came out near the top. Been lurking most of the day but seen some great advice and some friendly folk so I really felt it was worth joining up.
Hopefully I'll be able to add something to the forum as time goes on, probably advice about how not to do it as I learn the hardway. As I said, I'm by no means an experienced cyclist. Longest ride to date is about 33 miles, averaging around 14mph. I currently do most of my rides on a Kona Fire Mountain MTB with road tyres but am now looking to get a road bike to complete my first few sportives.
Got my eye on the Norwich and Sandringham events in June this year as a build up to the big one in August. I need to find an extra 67 miles from somewhere
