Hello!! I am new to cycling, meaning I haven't ridden two wheels without a motor since 1986! Since then it has been Honda, Kawasaki or Suzuki (dirt and street). I am now to the point, rather my waist line is to the point that I need to do some form of exercise. My daughter is 11 and wants me to ride with her, what more incentive do I need!!

I have read through a few parts of the forums and I realize there are sections for what I am going to list next, but since I am introducing myself I might as well introduce my wants and desires too.

My daughter and I are looking to ride for enjoyment and exercise. Our terrain would be road, park, trail and some hilly areas. She can ride, but to be honest she has only had the privilege of a BSO. I am now in the market to purchase a new/used bike for her and myself. She is 11 years old and about 4'9" with a 29" inseam and I am old and about 5'8" with a 30" inseam. Doing some research it seems she falls into an XS (14") frame with 26" rims and I fall into a M(18") frame with 26" rims. Obviously I am open to suggestions and direction on this part. You guys are more equipped to answer the fitting questions. I want to put her on a cycle that will provider her the best opportunity to enjoy and grow with cycling. For myself, I want to be able to keep up. LOL. I have visited Moonglu in Ripon, North Yorkshire (my local) and gleaned a few of these figures while there. The suggestion for me was a GIANT Revel 1 and for my daughter was open to discussion due to a lack of smaller female bikes on hand.

Anyway, I have probably stretched my welcome into more of a enquiry. I am open to direction, suggestion and criticism... Feel free to drop me a message.

Cheers,

ooo my favourite part of the world, do lots of motor biking over in North Yorkshire. Looking to do a good cycle weekend that way next year

:hello: and :welcome: to CC

Long time since our kids where kids so no use on advise there, although a lot of young kids(7-11yr olds) on our holiday park have specialised bikes! they go mtb'ing with their parents.

I ride a Kona my OH rides a Cube mtb and recently bought Cannondale road bikes, it'll all depend on where you want to cycle. A hybrid may be a good choice!
