Hello from Suffolk

After a 15 year break in bicycle ownership (basically I didn't ride a bike since passing my driving test all those years ago), I discovered an enthusiasm for cycling after a hiring a bike at Centre Parcs for a week.

I took the plunge and bought a Trek MTB at the start of July. The Trek is great off road, but having also covered a few road miles and enjoyed it, I have just acquired a Specialized Road bike. Right tools for the right jobs and all that :-)

Currently my enthusiasm is greater than my skill or fitness, but I am hoping both of these should improve.

Look forward to learning lots and to (hopefully) making some kind of useful contribution eventually.

I am based in Ipswich, so easily within reach of some nice empty roads.

Managed 32 miles yesterday with a friend, at an average of 17mph. Was please with that as it was the furthest I have gone so far.

When do you normally go out for a ride? I have two small children so have to try to fit things around them / plan longer rides slightly in advance.
