Hello from sunny Chesham, Bucks!
I came across this forum because I was looking for an exchange of opinions regarding getting my hands on a Brompton.
Hitherto I've been a fairly leisurely cyclist, using a reasonably good MTB to get me to and from my local train station morning and evening and a longer 20 miler most weekends around the hilly Chilterns where I live. I must say I'm not a huge fan of MTBs, but hey - I won it in a raffle some years ago and as they go, it's quite nice!
It replaced a road bike whose frame came to pieces at around the same time I won the MTB.
That said, the sentiments expressed throughout this forum do accord with mine.
Changes in work and personal circumstances fairly recently have meant that a folder would make an immense difference to the quality of my commute and indeed holidays.
Talking to Brompton owners who share my train in the morning and a couple of periods of me hiring one convinced me to order one.
That was back in April, and I'm still waiting! I'm told by the dealer that I still have 'a few weeks' to wait.
Brompton themselves are not responding to a message sent via their 'contact us' page on their site, beyond the standard automated 'we're busy' email response.
I'm not terribly impressed with this level of service, especially as having paid half the asking price upfront, I do feel I should have some ownership of the situation.
Everyone else seems to be able to get their hands on one fairly quickly and a recent google round other London dealers seem to indicate a 5-7 day turnaround on non-stock bikes.
Sorry to moan at length in my Welcome Mat post, I was just looking for some views or suggestions!
