loved cycling for ages, my norm is mountain biking! live right by the south downs so prime location! now got into road cycling and my mountain bike just doesn't cut it! was wondering what a good road/racing bike was to start with!

Ben i could have brought three of my current crop for that figure so it is a good budget to start with , what are you going for ?

why not try a good old retro steelie loads to choose from and should be able to pick up a good one for a lot less than your budget

Search the forum for Triban 3 from Decathlon. It's in your budget and is generally thought be exceptional value. It got a very, very good review in one of the mags recently - Cycling Active I think.
