I know (vaugely) a guy called Maxwell, and quite honestly, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder about certain things, but then, if I was called Maxwell, I'd have a chip on my shoulder too!!

I mean, all they had to do was call him Max, but nooooo!

That depends how he wants his name to be pronounced, he might decide it's pronounced Shirley, it's his name!

I taught a boy call Juan who wasn't pleased when I pronounced it "Wan' on or first encounter. I was told in no uncertain terms that he was called 'Jewan'

I support anyone who wants to give their child a different name, why stick to conformity? However some do go too far and it is the poor kid who suffers later in life.
