Hi everyone,

I'm a young 40 year old 'girl' living in Berkshire. Been into cycling for many years, found this place whilst searching Google for new bikes and stuff, so thought I'd join since I got some useful info from a few threads in here.

Used to cycle loads as a kid (but then most kids did back then!) and carried on into teenage years and my twenties. Lifestyle, first husband and work then got in the way and forced a break from actually taking part for a number of years (although I still liked to follow the sport whenever possible) until I met my now husband some 4 years ago. He's mad keen on it too and got me back in the saddle.

I'm asthmatic and have to manage my breathing a lot, so I'm not really into racing or anything. I cycle for fitness and because I simply love it when I'm out there, plus it actually helps with my asthma to a degree.

Been riding a Lapierre Audacio 300 for the past 12 months, Specialized before that as well as regularly out on the mountain bike with hubby. Now about to buy my first full carbon bike, hence the looking around on the internet. Not chosen yet - was looking at Ribble, but read a few bad stories about them, also waiting on a quote for a Fondriest. We'll see what transpires....

Hi and :welcome: to the forum! Don't know anything about those bikes, but someone who does will no doubt be along shortly! All the best, Mark

Welcome, it is indeed a friendly and informative website. Always nice to have another "girl" around too. Mind you, at 54 I really don't think I can still get away with calling myself that anymore.

Hope you find your new bike soon and get some miles in before the dreaded winter returns!

Hi @Cupcake1973 and :welcome:.

Another 40 year old asthmatic here who has found cycling has helped massively. For the first time ever my inhaler went out of date before running out of doses this year, so very pleased with what the activity has done for me and I hope it does the same for you.
