Hello, this looks a good place!

Greetings from a "born again" cyclist.
I started riding with Suffolk DA of the CTC back in the mid-sixties but didn't do a lot of cycling for most of my working life, which is now over as I am retired. If you look at my list of bikes, you will see that I always owned a bike - indeed I have never sold one.
Since retirement, after the urgings of a jovial heart surgeon, the need for weight-loss and fitness became extreme. I now do around 60 -100 miles a week (though being old, I prefer km) and get out most days in all weathers but pouring.
My wife has also taken up cycling and is very keen on watching young men in Lycra for some reason. We follow road racing and like to visit the Grand Tours. She has a wrecked right leg and finds it helps her to cycle as she can walk very little these days. As well as keeping weight off she finds it helps her to build up muscle to support missing and damaged ligaments.

Hi and welcome to the CC forum!

Hmm I'm on the old side but to me there is no place for KM in GB! IMO . I learnt metric in school, after driving for a living I use Imperial every day. 90 km means nothing but if 50miles is mentioned I can imagine the distance, without having to think about it. The same with my height and weight. I would have a clue what I am in metric.
